Harmony United Psychiatric Care - Altamonte Springs

“I would give zero stars if I could. This office and its providers and the company in general is noncompliant, with the national ADA American Disability Acts law. I scheduled an appointment for my son who is deaf. I called more than once letting them know that he would need an interpreter. And that a virtual interpreter was fine, and when we arrived at the office, they said they didn't know anything and that no one told them. I had previously spoken with the front desk person who claimed that we had not spoken prior. So after saying "they didn't know that he needed an interpreter" they then turned around and said, they thought I was bringing an interpreter. By national law, it is their responsibility to provide an interpreter. They called their office manager and they also called their HR department. Both said, "no, we don't do that." (Provide an interpreter) So I have reported them for violation to comply to thus law and they just said "do what you have to do." The healthcare provider was Takojia Walters with her master's degree in counseling. I don't understand how you could not be aware of a law that is decades old. Ms Walters also told me she used to work as a TTY typer. All the more reason you should be aware of how this works. As someone with that level of education and a healthcare professional YOU need to do better. This is part of the reason my son needs therapy, because he is shut down and discarded at many turns in his life. Now I schedule him to get some help from a trained professional whom claims to deal with trauma and he is shut down again by the very persons who could help him. To have that happen with a company and a healthcare provider with the education level that they have, and to act like they are unaware of a law that has been on the books for decades is just appalling to me. They seemed quite unbothered, unapologetic and very blase about the situation. So if you want to support an office who doesn't follow the rules for people with disabilities, someone who can't physically hear and needs a sign language interpreter and they are going to close themselves off to somebody in need, just because they don't want to follow the law.I would think twice about going to this office or use this company, which, by the way, is supported by United Health Care Medicare. I have also filed a complaint with them about the practices of this company-Harmony United Psychiatric Care and this office as well as UHC and Medicare. Shame on you!! My son deserves to be treated!!!!”

“Harmony United Care in Altamonte Springs is such a great office The Drs are excellent. The offices are beautiful & relaxing. The staff gave my mother great resources to make her life more enjoyable! A BIG thank you to Elizabeth. She is so kind. My mom left her license & medicare card behind by mistake. She called me right up. I asked if she could mail it. When I gave her our address, Elizabeth offered to drop it off at our house. It take true kindness to help us out. She saved us 1 1/2 hours to go pick it up. Thank you 🙏 Elizabeth!”
