How likely are you to recommend Hanish Sethi, Psychiatrist?
“I was very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Hanish. My insurance covered a much longer appointment, yet the visit lasted only about five minutes. I felt nothing from the moment I watch the video called in. He did not take the time to listen carefully to my concerns or ask meaningful questions about my how I feel. Instead, the appointment felt focused solely on quickly prescribing medication and ending the visit. When I tried to explain how I was feeling, I did not feel heard or understood. He also stated that he is not a psychologist, which made me feel dismissed rather than supported. I believe patients deserve time, attention, and compassion during their appointments, specially when discussing mental health. Unfortunately, this was not my experience. I don't want to continue seeing this doctor.”
“I needed a psych evaluation to get a medical implant done. Did the evaluation July 1st and explained that it needs to be sent to my pain management doctor. Filled out the release online and waited. Three weeks later and nothing has been sent to my doctor. Went into local office to try to get a print out saying I would be ok to get the implant to help with pain. Nope scheduled another zoom meeting with the same therapist. Explained again that I need paper showing that I didn't fail and I would be an ok candidate for the implant. Waited several hours and waited to see if the paper i needed would be put on my patient portal. Called again and had to speak to another therapist that was actually really helpful. The following day my pain doctor called and said they still haven't received anything and made arrangements for me to do this evaluation with someone that they recommend. Wasted an entire month in pain waiting for lifestance to follow through and was failed miserably! There was one therapist that tried to help and im greatful for her assistance. But you may end up with the guy that I dealt with that was extremely hard to understand. He spoke quietly and his accent was really hard to understand what he was saying. At the end of the day this company failed to produce the paperwork I needed to be able to try and reduce my physical pain. I won't recommend this company to anyone and if you are thinking about Lifestance don't just walk away RUN! If I could give zero stars I would! I also want to add that calling to get through to anyone human is almost impossible as you get lost in their automated system and just give up and go to a local office. Also the guy was nice just really hard to understand what he was saying as he speaks with a low volume.”
“Really bad experience. I’ve really never met a mental healthcare worker in any field that was truly not a kind person. Please be careful. He misquoted statistics to extremes that I didn’t ask for in our first moments, stated he didn’t believe my existing neuropsych evaluation or past doctors before discussing my history at all. And within 5 minutes of meeting me and not asking for any symptoms of mine or looking at my history he stated “99% of people with the combination anxiety-depression-ptsd and anxiety have bipolar disorder. ” I had him repeat himself and he said it again and ended it with “if you don’t believe me just check chat gpt then” to which I told him “that is not a reliable source. I don’t want to look it up, I came to a doctor for a professional opinion” He stated “I just said 99% to scare you it may be 80 percent”. He was recording the session which shocked me even more that he would say that to anyone with any level of anxiety on tape. He asked if 50% statisticwould make me more comfortable and it was just very strange the lack of knowledge and information about the basics especially BEFORE getting to know me. As soon as he told me his intention was to scare me about something I realized this wasn’t a safe person to be medicated by. Especially when I struggle from severe physical health issues including cancer and tumor removals. I need my medications safe to interact and I can’t trust his ability to do that or to work with my oncologist or neurologist etc. I’m very grateful to have been seeing a psychiatrist because I wanted to explore the option of medication myself, not because I really was in need or had it recommended. So I was in a good place at this time. If i had been struggling emotionally, or at a bad point I do thing that level of mistreatment would’ve been really really harmful. Also if I were a child who didn’t know better, or someone elderly, or just anyone who didn’t know better. I’ve never had anyone suggest I have bipolar disorder, with my symptoms being quite contradictory. Never an up never a manic not once. I’ve had a lifetime of working with therapists and psychiatrists after losing most of my immediate family very young. I’ve always had steady low depressive but stable mental health so it was a bit strange of a statement in general. I’m very open to testing and hearing anyone out but I hadn’t yet gone over or been asked symptoms yet and have always been very steady and successful at work and at home so I’ve never required a lot of assistance. I work a full time long term job that pays well that I’ve never been late to and am valued at. I’m an overachiever always(which id like to be less of), i have no big complaints i love my life and family, so i was honestly suprised to be hearing a suggestion of a diagnosis at all with my request to revisit ADHD medication after repeating proper testing as needed. Especially after highlighting a constant down and never a up personally. Though I want to be clear there is nothing at all wrong with having Bipolar disorder, I certainly wasn’t visiting with issues aside from specifically my adhd struggling after my recent major surgery today. But I am a huge believer in diagnostics being helpful in making life better, and never should be “scary”. A diagnosis should help, and if that 99% were true I’d want to handle that immediately. It’s just not close. And he repeated it. But I do recommend anyone to refuse to recieve treatment and medication from anyone who wants to scare someone about mental health! That was strange. I’ve never been told that by any doctor let alone a mental health professional, and I’ve unfortunately worked with many doctors over the years due to my physical health issues.”
“I had a very concerning experience with this psychiatrist. At my appointment, I told the doctor that I was already taking Seroquel and clonazepam. Despite this, I was prescribed another medication. After taking it, I experienced severe symptoms, including difficulty breathing and becoming extremely cold. It was one of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had. During the appointment, I wanted to look up information about the medication and its possible side effects, but the doctor told me not to Google it and to simply trust him. I felt that my concerns were dismissed instead of being addressed. After I experienced this reaction, I searched online for information about taking these medications together. The information I found indicated that the combination could be life-threatening, which made the experience even more frightening. This is what I found online after the fact and why I believe my concerns should have been taken more seriously. What disappointed me even more was that no one from the practice ever contacted me afterward to check on my condition or ask what had happened even though I messed them about it. I had to call them for them to respond. This review reflects my personal experience. I encourage anyone who is prescribed a new medication to ask questions, discuss potential drug interactions, and seek a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right.”
