“Very disappointing experience attempting to re-establish psychiatric care. I was initially scheduled for an appointment, completed intake paperwork, signed consents, and submitted updated medical information, only to later have the appointment canceled because I was “technically” considered a new patient. What made the experience especially frustrating was the lack of clear communication afterward. The office repeatedly cited distance as a concern while largely avoiding discussion about telehealth options, despite telehealth services being offered and my insurance confirming this would not be an issue within Florida (per Blue Cross Blue Shield). When I asked whether any other providers in the practice were accepting new patients, I was simply redirected to contact my insurance instead of being provided any meaningful guidance. The entire process felt dismissive, disorganized, and unnecessarily difficult for someone actively trying to manage their mental healthcare responsibly.”
